RDUK - Who we are
Restorative Dentistry (RD-UK) is a group of Consultants and Specialists which aims to raise the awareness of Restorative Dentistry nationally and internationally by highlighting the breadth and depth of the speciality and its impact on patients' general well-being.
Our vision is to ‘Inspire, education and inform’ the public and those involved in the decision making, purchase, and delivery of restorative dentistry services.
Our mission is to continue to promote and raise awareness of Restorative Dentistry by:
- Setting standards for Restorative Dentistry;
- Supporting its members in delivering excellence in patient care;
- Educating and informing the public, commissioners and other healthcare professionals.
- RD-UK has a strong collaboration with its affiliated group, the Specialty Registrars in Restorative Dentistry Group (SRRDG) who represent the trainees in Restorative Dentistry. The SRRDG works on behalf of the trainees along with RD-UK to ensure that the trainee voice is represented and heard at national and international level.
The group is led by a team of dynamic Council Members who are visionary and passionate about Restorative Dentistry and represent the single specialities of restorative dentistry, endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics as well as the training grades group.
The chair, with the council members, work with various organisations and groups including the Chief Dental Officer's team and the Royal Colleges in furtherance of knowledge and challenges faced by Restorative Dentistry. Council is often approached by external bodies for matters relating to Restorative Dentistry both at a political and clinical level. There is close interaction with the allied professional societies and groups within the Restorative Dentistry speciality as well as out with the speciality eg British Society of Restorative Dentistry, British Society of Periodontology, British Society of Endodontics, British Society for the Study of Prosthodontics in furtherance of awareness of Restorative Dentistry at a professional, clinical, educational and political level.
Our annual meeting is held in Autumn jointly with the SRRDG and gives the opportunity for debate and discussion on various matters relating to Restorative Dentistry. This meeting is an excellent way of networking with colleagues who share an interest in Restorative Dentistry.
