CLINICAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS SCHEME
ACSRD procedure for writing supporting citations to ACCEA
The ACSRD was registered as a recognised nominating body for ACCEA awards in September 2006.
The following procedure was accepted:
All nominations are received by the Chair and initially vetted by selected members of Council (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer). As our membership is relatively small we can only support a limited number of awards and decisions regarding the cases we will support are based on:
1. the candidates initially meeting the basic criteria followed by,
2. an assessment of the national standing of the candidates.
These latter decisions are made with reference to the applicant's contribution to the Specialty in areas of clinical delivery, administration leading to improved patient care and research benefitting patient treatment.
Members of the Association who are higher award holders are then requested to write citations on behalf of the applicant.
Using criteria published by the ACCEA, and based upon the number of Consultant members of the Association we can support a maximum of:
6 Bronze, 4 Silver/Gold
awards per annum. ACCEA does not invite nominations for Platinum awards from specialist societies.
